September 25: Lanzhou to Xiahe
We got off the train to get on a bus for about five hours in order to get to Xiahe-part of Historic tibet even though it's in Gansu province.
Along the way we passed many mountainside farms, step farming.
We stopped in LinXia-Lin meaning neighbor and Xia being the river. The surrounding area has been dotted with mosques, the entire area being almost entirely Muslim. 40 minutes from LinXia we crossed into Historic Tibet.
Headed to dinner at a bonfire, along the way with the sun setting over the mountains and river in Tibet, so beautiful I can't form a sentence. Every sheep ever on the hillsides. Btw, Tibetan sheep have horns, brown heads and white bodies, so cute they are. Rolling green hill of grass transitioning into green peaks in the distance. Horses and motorcycles are the transportation of choice in the mountain village.
The dinner with the Beijing group ended and the Tibetans started shooting off fireworks, some of which ended up going sideways instead of up, one hitting a bus driver i think, or maybe one of the guides. The bonfire was started and we danced around it and sung songs. The night came to an end with another bout of questionable fireworks and every possibly visible star in the sky.
Clearly I did not feel like formatting this.......sorry but it's late
I will not ruin this post with any information about how challenging the Beijing group was, but if you were wondering, they acted unpleasantly at certain points.
